AYSES SYSTEM

The AYSES System is one that produces a healthy and fun environment for the players, teams that play possession soccer, and players that are technically and tactically astute.  It is a clearly defined, systematic approach to coaching youth soccer that challenges you as a parent to hold our club and coaches accountable.

  • Ensure your son/daughter is at every game on time
  • Pay your dues on time
  • No coaching during games or practice (no instructions)
  • Support your team and son/daughter
  • No communication with referees
  • No communication with coach until 24 hours after game (be civil at all times)
  • Volunteer as required
  • Go directly to coach when you have a problem (be civil at all times)
  • Support coach, team manager and rest of team volunteers

Playing Time

  • Playing time is not guaranteed
  • Coaches try to balance individual goals and team goals because the two are sometimes related.  In other words, your son/daughter’s interest is very important, but so is the interest of other players and the team
  • Some players will play more than others.
  • Practice attendance, effort and good attitude are the minimum requirement for playing time.
  • From U11 through U15, a coach ATTEMPTS to play all players at least fifty percent of the time over the course of a season as long as a player meets minimum requirements relative to practice attendance, effort and good attitude.
  • From U16 and above, playing time is based mostly on performance (assuming player meets minimum requirement of regular practice attendance, effort and good attitude).
  • A coach may play stronger players in a critical game (final of tournament or game deciding promotion) and play them less in other games to make time for players who did not play much in critical games.
Assignment to a Team
  • Goal is to maximize player development
  • Team formation will be tiered, with the top team consisting of the more advanced players.
    • Helps with playing time since skill level will not be too varied
    • Players of similar skill level will provide meaningful challenge to each other in training
    • Players will play in a league commensurate with the skill level of most of the players on the team.  This ensures each team placement isn't skewed due to the wide variation of player skill level.  This is one of the most unfortunate aspects of select soccer since most parents want to play in a higher division regardless of the player’s experience or development.
  • Number of players available in an age group will determine number of teams formed
  • Players of similar skill level will be placed on the same team so practice sessions can be easily tailored to benefit the whole group.
  • Players will move up or down depending on their progress.
  • Teams of similar age group will practice together from time to time to allow coaches to evaluate players and to give players an opportunity to practice with players of different level.
  • Select teams (U11 through U19) only:  If a team is in Classic League, no more than five players per team in lower division teams will be tagged as “Club Pass Players” and thus will be able to play for their team and that above them in Classic League.
  • Academy teams (U7 through U10) only:  Players may play for multiple teams within the same age group.  That will happen if there are too many players for one team but not enough for two, or a player is close to the next level and playing at that next level will enhance their development, or if a team needs help in order to be somewhat competitive in a league where they are being overwhelmed.
Team Performance Expectations
  • The goal is for AYSES teams to show progress from year to year.
  • The goal is for a team to be promoted within two years of being in a specific division.
  • The goal is for all AYSES teams to play Classic League I at the age of seventeen when college coaches are seriously scouting players.
  • The goal is for the DI teams to win State Cup, Regionals, Nationals.and major tournaments at the age of U16 and beyond.
